Position Summary The Thriving Supportive Program Resident Advisor supports creating a welcoming and safe environment for young adults who access the dorms services at the Thriving Supportive Program (TSP) for Lydia House. The RA encourages building pilina and provides mentorship, ease in transitioning to the dorm life, managing overnight needs of the young adults. This position will oversee any emerging social emotional needs, providing possible activities, guidance, and application of guidelines and regulations, while managing conflict. This position is a full-time position on a rotation basis. This rotation consists of 4 days on and 4 days off schedule. Essential Job Functions Thriving Supportive Program DormsPromote a welcoming and trauma informed environment. Address any immediate basic needs, including social emotional, mentorship, or supportive activities for young adults as needed. Sets and supports alignment to rules established in the Aloha Agreement.Work along security on premises, and with manager on call, to manage respond to any urgent need.Monitor and deescalate any conflict which may arise.Observes, collects, communicates, and reports daily any events in data management system.Contributes to young adults' success in their “thriving” goals.Other duties as required. QualificationsA high school diploma; preferably presently enrolled in a related degree (education, public health, social work, psychology, etc.)Interest and/or some experience in working with young adults in a residential setting;Knowledge or desire to learn best youth practices (positive youth development) and the ability to selfcare and work with developing age young adults. Licenses or Certifications Valid driver license, clean traffic abstract. Required to have a TB clearance. First Aid and CPR/AED Certification preferred. Job CompetenciesCollaboration: Ability to interact effectively with youth, community partners, and multi-disciplinary teams. Knowledge of community resources and services.Communication: Clearly conveys and receives information and ideas to individuals or groups that engages the listener and invites response and feedback. Demonstrates good written, oral, and listening skills.Cultural Competence: Respects and relates well to people from varied backgrounds and is sensitive to group differences. Experience working with at-risk youth. Strong application of ethics and boundaries. Travel RequirementsIn alignment with our organizational competencies of Alu Like I ka Hana (Teamwork) and Ho`omau i ka `imi Na`auao (Continuous Learning and Improvement), this position will require occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state depending on the needs of the team and the organization.
